Half Day Multi-Species Fishing on Lake St. Clair
Looking for a fishing trip that keeps you guessing what's coming up next? Lake St. Clair delivers exactly that kind of action. This 5-hour charter with Captain Eric puts you right in the middle of some of the best multi-species fishing in the Great Lakes region. We're talking Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, and whatever else decides to bite that day. The beauty of St. Clair is you never know if your next fish will be a feisty pike or a chunky perch - that's what makes every cast exciting. Whether you've been fishing for decades or you're just getting started, this trip gives you the perfect mix of steady action and surprise catches that'll have you planning your next trip before this one's even over.
What to Expect on the Water
Captain Eric knows Lake St. Clair like the back of his hand, and he's got the spots dialed in where different species hang out throughout the day. You'll hop between productive areas, switching up techniques based on what's biting and what the fish finder is showing us. The boat comes loaded with all the gear you need - quality rods, fresh bait, and tackle boxes full of the right stuff for whatever we're targeting. Don't worry about bringing anything except your fishing license and maybe some snacks if you get hungry. The 5 hours fly by when the fish are cooperative, and Eric's got a knack for reading the water and adjusting our game plan on the fly. One minute you might be working a jig for walleye, the next you're casting spoons for pike - it keeps things interesting and your line tight.
Gear Setup & Fishing Methods
We run a mix of techniques depending on conditions and what's showing up on the fish finder. Live bait rigs work great for walleye and perch, especially when they're being picky. For pike and bass, we'll throw some hardware - spoons, crankbaits, and soft plastics that trigger those aggressive strikes. Eric brings rods already rigged and ready to go, so you're not wasting time tying knots when the fish are biting. The boat's equipped with a quality fish finder that helps us locate schools and structure where fish like to hang out. When we find a good spot, we'll work it thoroughly before moving on. Sometimes we'll anchor up and fish vertically, other times we'll drift and cover more water. The approach changes based on what the lake's giving us that day, and Eric's always willing to explain why we're doing what we're doing if you want to learn the ins and outs.
Customer Stories
"If you're looking for a fun and successful fishing trip, Captain Eric with Get Hooked Fishing Charters is the perfect guide! I took three 13-year-old boys on a trip, and they had an absolute blast. Captain Eric came prepared with live bait, high-quality rods, and a Fish Finder, teaching us effective techniques to get the fish biting—and it worked! The boys were busy reeling them in and loving every minute. He's great with all ages, easy to talk to, and even helped us find extra gear at the marina for fishing back at our Airbnb. The 5 hours flew by, and before we knew it, he was expertly filleting our catch. We had such an amazing experience that I'd return to Lake St. Clair and Anchor Bay/New Baltimore just to fish with him again. While no one can guarantee results, Captain Eric's hard work and dedication make it hard to imagine coming up empty. 10/10 recommend—can't wait for the next trip" - Ashley
"We had an absolute blast fishing with Captain Eric, and he was a huge part of what made our charter so incredible. Our goal was simple—catch fish, and then catch some epic fish—and we did both! Of course, we know fishing can be hit or miss, but this trip was nothing short of amazing. We landed six different species, including tons of Walleye, White Bass, Yellow Perch, a big Drum, a monster Channel Catfish, and even a Musky! We even hooked a flag with a little Bass attached—definitely a first! Huge thanks to Captain Eric for being such a kind, knowledgeable, and personable guide. He made the experience unforgettable, and we can't recommend him enough. Five stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐" - Richard
Species You'll Want to Hook
Northern Pike are the lake's top predators and they fight like they mean it. These toothy critters love hanging around weed edges and drop-offs, especially during spring and fall when they're most active. Pike in St. Clair typically run 20-30 inches, but don't be surprised if you hook into something pushing 35+ inches - those big girls are out there. They hit hard and fast, then put on an aerial show that'll get your heart pumping. The key with pike is having sharp hooks and being ready for their head shakes. They're also excellent table fare when prepared right, despite what some people think.
American Yellow Perch might be smaller than pike, but they make up for it in numbers and taste. These little fighters school up tight, so when you find one, there's usually a bunch more nearby. St. Clair perch are chunky and healthy, often running 8-12 inches with some real jumbos mixed in. They bite best during cooler months and can be found over sand and gravel bottoms in 15-25 feet of water. Perch are curious fish that respond well to small jigs tipped with minnows or worms. Once you dial in the right depth and presentation, you can fill the cooler pretty quickly. They're hands-down some of the best eating fish in the lake.
Walleye are the bread and butter of Lake St. Clair fishing and for
