Lake St. Clair is hands down one of the Great Lakes region's most productive fishing destinations, and Captain Eric knows exactly where to put you on the fish. This half-day charter targets multiple species in waters that consistently deliver action from morning until afternoon. You'll be fishing aboard a brand-new 2022 Lund boat packed with professional-grade equipment, so whether you're bringing the kids for their first real fishing experience or you're a serious angler looking to add some variety to your catch list, this trip has something for everyone. The lake's diverse structure and healthy fish populations mean every cast could bring something different to the boat.
Captain Eric runs a top-rated operation that focuses on putting fish in the boat while making sure everyone has a great time doing it. Lake St. Clair's expansive waters offer incredible diversity - from shallow weed beds where pike lurk to deeper structure holding walleye and smallmouth bass. The trip accommodates up to three guests, which keeps things personal and gives everyone plenty of individual attention. You'll be targeting walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and yellow perch using techniques that match the day's conditions and fish behavior. The boat comes fully rigged with everything you need, from rods and reels to tackle and bait. Captain Eric's approach is all about adapting to what's working, so you might find yourself jigging one spot in the morning and casting to weed lines later in the day.
The beauty of multi-species fishing on Lake St. Clair is the variety of techniques you'll use throughout the day. For walleye, expect to work jigs tipped with minnows or crawlers along drop-offs and structure. Smallmouth bass often come on jigs bounced through rocky areas or on soft plastics worked around cover. Pike fishing gets exciting with spoons, spinnerbaits, or live bait rigs fished near weed edges where these ambush predators wait for an easy meal. Yellow perch typically respond well to smaller jigs or spreader rigs that let you target schools effectively. Captain Eric's 2022 Lund is equipped with quality fish finders and GPS to locate productive spots quickly, plus all the rods are matched to the techniques you'll be using. The boat's layout makes it easy to move around and handle fish safely, which is especially important when you're dealing with pike or feisty smallmouth bass.
"We booked a fishing trip with Captain Eric for my 32nd birthday, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! We caught countless Perch, enjoyed some exciting fights with big fish, and had an absolute blast from start to finish. Captain Eric's knowledge, kindness, and great personality made the trip even more enjoyable. There's nothing better than learning from a seasoned expert, having great conversations, and reeling in fish while listening to great tunes on the water. Huge thanks to Eric for an amazing day! We can't wait to book another trip and share this experience with all our fishing friends. Highly recommend!" - Taylor. "I took my 10- and 7-year-old nephews out on a multi-species charter with Captain Eric, and it was an unforgettable experience. He was extremely friendly, patient, and great with the kids, even when their attention wandered. His deep knowledge of the area and passion for fishing made the trip both fun and educational. Safety was always a priority, and his welcoming personality made the day even better. We had an amazing time and will definitely be booking another trip soon!" - Andrew. "Captain Eric was top notch. Very patient as some of the techniques were a little new to me. I caught a personal best 13+ pound catfish, numerous 4+ pound smallmouth, hooked a musky, and caught a first time and personal best almost 8 lb Drum. Had an absolute blast and Captain Eric is a great fisherman, great teacher and all around great man! Highly recommend him and when I'm up this way again I'll definitely be giving him a call. Thank you Eric!" - Justin.
Walleye are the crown jewel of Lake St. Clair fishing, and for good reason. These golden beauties typically run 2-6 pounds with occasional fish pushing into trophy territory. Spring and fall offer the most consistent walleye action, but summer fishing can be fantastic early in the morning or during evening hours. What makes walleye so special is their incredible table fare - there's simply no better eating fish in fresh water. They're also challenging enough to keep things interesting, often requiring finesse presentations and careful boat positioning to trigger strikes consistently.
Smallmouth bass in Lake St. Clair are absolute fighters that'll test your drag and make you appreciate quality tackle. These bronze-backed warriors typically range from 2-5 pounds, with 4+ pounders being common enough to keep you excited all day. Peak smallmouth action happens from late spring through early fall when they're active in shallow rocky areas and along structure. What anglers love most about smallmouth is their aggressive strikes and spectacular fights - they'll jump, run, and do everything possible to throw your hook. The lake's clear water and abundant rock structure create perfect smallmouth habitat.
Northern pike bring the excitement factor that keeps everyone alert and ready for action. Lake St. Clair pike commonly range from 3-8 pounds with bigger fish always possible, especially around heavy weed cover. These apex predators are active year-round but really turn on during spring and fall when they move shallow to feed aggressively. Pike fishing is all about the strike - that explosive hit that can happen any second keeps your adrenaline pumping. They're also surprisingly good eating when handled properly, despite what some anglers believe.
American Yellow Perch might be smaller than the other target species, but they make up for size with numbers and taste. Lake St. Clair perch typically run 8-12 inches

We booked a charter for my son's birthday who is very excited about fishing. The first date we chose had to be rescheduled due to high winds, which I very much appreciated since it showed that Captain Eric is committed to his passengers safety and comfort during the charter. We had a great experience on Captain Eric's boat. His boat and equipment were great, we caught the biggest fish we have ever caught! He took special care in answering all our questions about fishing Lake St. Clair and he was very patient and kind with my son in catching all the fish and managing the poles. We had a great time with Captain Eric, I highly recommend booking with him and we will definitely be back for another charter.

We booked this charter to take a 3rd generation wanna be fisherman (child) out on his first charter. Captain worked hard to get us on some fish as the bite was pretty cold for our morning charter. The Captain never gave up. His interaction with the new fisherman was outstanding. He was patient and very nice while answering all the normal kid questions.

Yellow perch are Lake St. Clair's bread and butter fish, perfect for families and kids. These golden beauties with dark vertical stripes typically run 8-10 inches, though we catch plenty of jumbo 12+ inchers. They school up in huge numbers around structure, weed edges, and drop-offs in 12-25 feet of water. Fall through early winter provides the hottest action when they're feeding heavily. What makes perch special is their sweet, mild taste - many consider them the best eating fish in the lake. They're also cooperative biters that keep rods bent all day. Kids love catching them because they bite readily and fight just enough to be fun. Local secret: small minnows or wigglers on a simple hook and sinker rig work best. When you catch one, stay put - where there's one perch, there's usually a hundred more.

Northern pike are Lake St. Clair's apex predators, typically running 24-36 inches with some real giants over 40 inches lurking in the weeds. These toothy missiles love shallow bays, weed edges, and anywhere baitfish gather. Spring through early summer offers peak action when they're in the shallows after spawning. Pike hit hard and fight dirty with powerful runs and head shakes that'll test your drag. While they're decent eating when prepared right, most guests target them for the thrill - there's nothing like a pike smashing your lure near the surface. They're ambush hunters, so work lures slow and steady. My go-to local tip: cast spinnerbaits along the Canadian weed lines and retrieve just fast enough to keep the blade turning. Steel leaders are a must with these razor-toothed fish.

Smallmouth bass are Lake St. Clair's scrappiest fighters, averaging 12-16 inches with plenty of 3-4 pounders around. These bronze-colored warriors love rocky structure, drop-offs, and anywhere there's current or hard bottom. You'll find them in 8-20 feet during summer, but they move shallow in spring and fall. What guests love most is their fight - pound for pound, nothing hits harder or jumps more than a smallmouth. They're also excellent eating with firm, white meat. Best fishing happens during cooler months when water temps drop below 70 degrees. Early morning and evening bite best. Here's a local trick: try tube jigs in green pumpkin around the rock piles near the shipping channel. Let it fall on slack line and watch your rod tip.

Walleye are one of Lake St. Clair's prized catches, typically running 18-24 inches with some reaching 6+ pounds. These golden-colored fish with their distinctive glassy eyes love rocky bottoms and structure. During daylight, they hold deep around 15-25 feet, but move shallow at dawn and dusk to feed. Spring and fall offer the best action when they're most active. What makes walleye special is their incredible table fare - firm, flaky white meat that's hard to beat. They're also crafty fighters that test your skills. My local tip: focus on the Canadian side drop-offs with live minnows just off bottom. When you feel that subtle tap, count to three before setting the hook - walleye like to mouth the bait first.
